How to Spot a Hoax (continued)

Hoax # 3: The internet petition
U should double check on any petition before forwarding your friends. Petitions require somebody (usually the 100th person) to send them back to an e-mail address. Spam Corp. is always grateful when that 100th person sends them 100 active e-mail addresses.

Hoax #4: The voice from authority
Hoax mails like to say that they represent a company. They're so full of it! A legit company will not do the following:
  • Forward messages or ask for messages to be forwarded on their behalf ('Subject' line contains 'FW')
  • Send chain e-mail
  • Ask for your current password or secret answer
  • Have a member of their support team contact you without you having contacted them 1st
