Myths about Bullying 3

"Only weak wimps get bullied"
People who are targeted by bullies are sensitive, respectful, honest and creative; they have a strong sense of fair play and don't like violence. Bullies are driven by jealousy and envy. They want to torment and destroy anyone who is better than they are (most of the population).

What looks like weakness to the bully is more likely to be an outward sign of fear, terror or confusion.

Really young kids are told by their parents not to hit, punch, scream, kick and call people names - not wanting to do these things when u get older is not a sign of weakness.

"But why me?"
People being bullied often ask this question? Usually it's just because they are there and so is the bully.

Everything the bully comes out with (accusations, criticisms, taunts, put downs) is false. They are just reflections of the bullies' own weaknesses and failings. Some accusations might contain a small grain of truth, but don't be fooled. The bully wants the target to believe that everything they say is true. There's no real truth in anything a bully says. It's really important to understand this.

"Only shy loners get bullied"
Children who are bullied are often self-reliant and independent. They don't need to join gangs, wear expensive fashion, or big themselves up to everybody who listens. However, people being bullied often find themselves alone. This is because the bully works hard to cut them off. The bully might threaten the target's friends with violence or exclusion from the "in" group if they talk to that person.

U don't need to suffer in silence
