Examples of flaming:

However, some people go too far and try and hide behind the internet to say things they wouldn't dare to in real life - these people are usually cowards and they can be done for harassment.

If u encounter online abuse...
  • Don't reply, it'll only encourage them to send more
  • Keep a diary and take a note of the time, date and type of contact u received
  • Save everything to an abuse file on your comp
  • Take a screen shot
  • Report your findings to the network, a parent and a teacher...
How Cyberbullying is different from real world bullying
  • Cyberbullies can't see their target, and therefore won't see how much it hurts them. They can therefore have even less sympathy than real world bullies.
  • U have less control over how long cyberbullying lasts and how far it goes. Even when it's reported, online abuse can remain online for a long time. It could even be taken up by others and spread across the web
  • Cyberbullying has no boundaries: a text message or personally abusive website invades the home space, not just schools or the streets
