Bogus websites often given themselves away by blowing their own trumpet just a little too hard...

Check for sponsorship
Advice and information sites often need sponsorship. U need to ask yourself if the sponsorship is shaping the advice being given. Money talks!

Check for Spam
If a site is asking for your details, check that they have a privacy policy. If they don't, then chances are u'll get spammed.

Check for Scams
Any site that asks for money should also display an address (not just a PO BOX) with a telephone number for u to contact them. If u r unsure, call the number before ordering.Trading scams target credit cards and bank accounts. U can warn you parents about scams by knowing what to look for...

Check for Spoofs
Sites are made to look like others for a number of reasons. Sometimes it's to fool users into entering their personal information, other times it's there to poke fun at the original.
